My name is Tiffany Shumack. I am a participant with my San Diego High School teacher, Arlene Harris, in the Albert H Small Normandy: Sacrifice for Freedom 2012 Institute through National History Day, nhd.org.
This website is about Ruben Tellez. Each participating team chose a fallen WWII Normandy soldier on whom to do a website. Ruben, our fallen WWII soldier, was a paratrooper in the D-Day invasion of Normandy Beach. He attended our high school from 1939 to 1941. He left San Diego High School at the end of his junior year; I am currently a junior, 2011-2012 academic year.

Tiffany and Harris meet with Ruben's family
We were able to meet with five members of Ruben's family about this project: sisters Alice, Rose, and Isabelle; brother Bobby, and niece Patricia. Their help was invaluable! Unfortunately, most of the video files shot of these interviews are too big for this website. But, Harris will have them available at SDHS and we will give copies to each of the family member participants with our sincere thanks.
